Every human being is fascinated by the exotic locations.
There are many travel shows these days which are streaming on television, these
shows are quite intriguing and you often feel like exploring such places. So we
planned an excursion to the "Valley of snow" manali. we started on 11
june 2013,the first day was almost consumed in travelling,we reached there
around 4 in the evening ,checked in the hotel and then had a nap of an hour or
so, after that we wandered the local streets of manali ,being from shimla we
didnt want to fool ourselves just by seeing snow and the hills,we were already
prepared to do something different ,so we enquired about various treks around manali.Everyone was suggesting that this is not the right time to go for treking as most of the roads are snapped out due to the snow, this was very disheartning for us,so we altered our plans and decided to do paragliding and river rafting, but as we were on the way back to our hotel,we consulted one more tour and travel office and this proved to be'blessing in disguise' for us ,we met a person here who was a treking pro and he said that there is a trek to"BRIGHU LAKE" which is possible during this time of the year ,We had the smile back on our faces which was initially disappeared,we negotiated with him,and finally he agreed. Then we moved back to our hotel, everyone was famished,we had our supper..then we slept with the curiosity whats going to happen tomorrow...this concluded day1.On the 2nd day the rain god was in the full mood of playing a spoil sport ,it was raining cats and dogs in the morning, this was surely shattering our spirits ,but due to the real zest in us ,we decided to commence our journey in the given circumstances from the place called 'VASHISHT;our trek included 7 members in all, four of us and 3 others without whom this wouldnt have been possible.initially we were fully charged up and every thing seemed very easy ,it wasnt that steep initially so we covered the first 2kms in jst 40-45 mins,as we were in full mood of making this trek a cherishable one ,we interrupted our journey quite often ,for capturing these momentsared to do something different,so we enquired about the various treks aro
.eventually the rain god showed some mercy, and the rain stopped, but as soon it stopped, the way got more steeper, causing more fatigue,so we decided to have our lunch ,let me tell you i am a fussy eater ,this wasnt a normal lunch we use to have in our routine lives,it included 1 banana 1,chocolate and 1 tetra pack juice ,and this gave us an immense pleasure as compared to any scrumptious dish.,after this we continued our journey .every one was charged and was at a distance of 100 m from each other exploring their own ways to the base camp.on the way we captured the most amazing scenic views ,actually camera couldnt capture ,what eyes did.after walking continuously for hours we were completely exhausted ,everyone was hoping to reach base camp site as soon as possible,as we were about to reach base camp site ,we sat basking in the sunshine
,it was so invigorating and soothing ...the fresh water was flowing originating from the glaciers ,,,it was incredible.."as it is said ,;'most beautiful places on earth cannot be reached through roads "
,we got the reward of our incessant walking by what we saw there.finally we made arrangements to set our camp, collected woods for the bon -fire ,after all this we sat in our camps, while the 3other people prepared supper for us,we started mocking each other ,ah!it was fun ,the most common slang was "ehnu sit yaar etho'means kick him down from here ....finally we had our supper sitting along the bon fire ,it was out of the world ,nothing can supersede that ambience
.after this our guide told us spooky things about that place, and it was horrifying as that place was completely desolated, then we came back to our camp ,got ourselves into sleeping bags aware of the fact that we have to still accomplish a challenging and daunting task
ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.the morning of the third day was greeted by thunderstorms and lightning ,ruining our planned schedule ,the pitter patter was driving us mad, meanwhile we had our breakfast inside the camp ,hoping to see the clear sky, although the sun didnt came out,but the rain stopped
,and we commenced to our destination, just after few metres ,there was not even a single tree that we could see, infact there were huge rock pieces which we had to pass ,it was a formidable undertaking, we could see the peek where we had to reach ,it seemed that it will not take more than an hour ,but i guess it was an illusion ,we took an inordinate amount of intervals in between ,after walking for 1-2 hours,we reached the ice land
...the place was overfilled with snow ,the view from there was jaw dropping,we posed there for a while,as we were about to continue ,the rain was pouring down again, everything was surrounded by the dense fog ,making it more intimidating for us to walk, finally after3 hours we made it to our destination, it was nothing less than a paradise for me
,our fatigue was surmounted by the beauty of that place, the lake was still frozen,u can imagine how bitting the cold was there, the place completely tranquilized us, the lake was so pious and serene that we sat there for almost an hour admiring the beauty
,the only disappointing thing was, we couldnt see the so called 360 degree view from there ,as everything was subdued by the fog.after having the refreshments we headed back towards the base camp ,while going down everyone was stumbling due to the slippery on the way
,.after reaching the base camp we had our lunch, and it was time to pack up from there and move back towards vashisht.after a long and tiring day we finally reached vashisht,,.....this is the trek that i will cherish till my last breath....thanks to ANKIT,ARJIT and AKSHIT for making it happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
